• Overtightened or loose nuts and bolts. Finding the perfect balance is key when tightening nuts and bolts during toilet installation. Overtightening them can put unnecessary pressure on the porcelain, potentially causing it to chip or crack. If the toilet base is not screwed in tightly, it can cause your toilet to wobble and become unstable. The instability can damage the wax ring underneath and cause leakage.
• Leaks. When the wax ring isn’t properly sealed, it can leak wastewater from the bottom. Such leaks can lead to mould on the floor. Water can also leak through cracks or loose connections.
• Water supply issues. Sometimes, the water supply lines must be cut or bent to ensure a proper fit for a new toilet. If there are problems with the main sewer line system, your toilet can often get clogged.
